‘Azerbaijan’s independent policies annoy Iran’

News.Az interviews Alexander Goldenstein, editor-in-chief of the Israeli-Russian IzRus.co.il portal and an expert on South Caucasus.

What are your comments on Iranian Chief of Staff’s remarks accusing Azerbaijan of anti-Islamic policies?

As our wise king said nearly 3,000 years ago “There is nothing new under the Sun.” Relations between Azerbaijan and Israel have long been like a thorn in the flesh for Iran. Unfortunately, having such powerful and restive neighbor on its borders, Baku is unable to fully realize the potential of bilateral relations with the Jewish state. However, Baku makes it clear that there is no need to interfere into other people’s business. Read more…

Azerbaijani top official: Statement by chief of staff of Iranian armed forces not fit for any frame

Azerbaijan, Baku, Aug. 11 /Trend, S.Agayeva/

(Editor: This is a comment for an article in the page, ترکجه / فارسی)

Dear Friends

Late on July 5, an Azerbaijani tanker plane crashed in Afghanistan en route to U.S.-NATO Bagram Air Base with a load of fuel. The United States and NATO should mourn the nine crew members who were killed on board, but this accident also should serve as a reminder of the invaluable contributions and sacrifices this small, predominately Muslim country has made for NATO and American forces when other coalition allies have been pulling out of Afghanistan.
