Third Gabala Int’l Music Festival ends

The Third Gabala International Music Festival organized by Heydar Aliyev Foundation wrapped up on 5 August.

The member of the Azerbaijani Parliament Fattah Heydarov and art director of the festival, People’s Artist of Azerbaijan and rector of the Baku Music Academy Farhad Badalbayli addressed the closing ceremony of the festival.

Noting that true music festival was held in Gabala for 23 days, the speakers said this was a festival of friendship and culture. They also thanked Mehriban Aliyeva, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO good-will ambassador, member of the Azerbaijani Parliament, for organizing this magnificent festival. Ariel Cohen: U.S. should further support Azerbaijan

America has sacrificed a lot fighting the Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan – but we are not alone. The United States and our NATO allies are getting help from places many Americans can’t find on the map.

Late on July 5, an Azerbaijani tanker plane crashed in Afghanistan en route to U.S.-NATO Bagram Air Base with a load of fuel. The United States and NATO should mourn the nine crew members who were killed on board, but this accident also should serve as a reminder of the invaluable contributions and sacrifices this small, predominately Muslim country has made for NATO and American forces when other coalition allies have been pulling out of Afghanistan. Euronews will soon air a report about the Third International Gabala Music Festival which is underway in Gabala District of Azerbaijan.

The Third International Gabala Music Festival involving famous musicians from 13 countries worldwide will be under way in Gabala from 30 July till 5 August. The festival is organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation

“The Armenian population is rapidly declining,” Azerbaijani Community of Nagorno Karabakh Chairman Bayram Safarov said in an interview with the ruling New Azerbaijan Party.

Armenians themselves are already worried that 18,800 people have left Armenia since early 2011.
